In January, Sierra Canyon Lower School Dance Company A/B was selected to perform at CA Dances, the annual festival presented by the California Dance Education Association.
CA Dances brings together dance educators and students from across California for a day of workshops and connection focused on dance education statewide. This year, only 15 dances were selected from over 40 submissions, making Company A/B’s acceptance a significant honor and a reflection of the dancers’ dedication, teamwork, and growth.
Company A/B was the youngest group to perform at the festival, sharing the stage with primarily high school and college-level dancers representing styles such as hip hop, modern, salsa, disco, and jazz. As a choreography-based program for students in Grades 3–6, Dance Company A/B emphasizes technique, musicality, and performance quality, preparing dancers for more complex movement and expressive artistry. The dancers performed "This Is the Moment," showcasing the energy, joy, and strong sense of community that define Sierra Canyon’s Lower School Dance program.
We are incredibly proud of these Lower School dancers for representing Sierra Canyon on such a large stage. Opportunities like CA Dances reflect our commitment to excellence in the arts and the strength of a community that encourages students to grow as creative thinkers and confident learners.
