As Sierra Canyon continued its season of celebration and reflection, last week's 8th Grade Tribute ceremony brought the community together to honor the Class of 2029 as they prepare to transition to Upper School.

The event marks the culmination of their Middle School years—a time to reflect on their growth, character, and contributions to the Sierra Canyon community.

Held in The Barn on the Lower Campus, this year's ceremony began with remarks from Middle School Vice President Jake F., who highlighted how the class has grown—from artists to scholars, athletes to student leaders—and noted that their successes and setbacks have helped shape their perseverance. He encouraged his peers by saying, "As we mature, we come to understand that life is all about discovering who we are. The only impossible trip is the one you fail to begin."

Director of Grades 7–9 Lindsay Koss introduced the next part of the ceremony with a heartfelt message about unity: "Embrace one another, as you are mighty as a group," she said. "If you seek ways to come together, you will find more satisfaction and enduring support as a unit than as the sum of your parts." Following her message, she joined Middle School Dean Jenny Hernandez in a thoughtful tradition, reading three words—chosen by peers and teachers—for each student as they crossed the stage, celebrating what made each student uniquely valued.

To close the ceremony, Daniel S., who was selected by the faculty as the class representative to speak, offered a reflective perspective. He noted, "Here we are shown that what truly matters is not just our results but how we approach challenges, how we celebrate progress, and how we share love." He finished with a powerful reminder that "what defines you is not the capability when you could, but your commitment when you couldn't."

The 8th Grade Tribute served as both a celebration and sendoff, recognizing how far these students have come and all that lies ahead. Congratulations to the Class of 2029!
