Sierra Canyon filmmakers took center stage in New York City, earning four official selections and national recognition at the All-American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF), the world's largest student film festival.
Dean G. '26 and Nikhil M. '26 traveled to participate in the AAHSFF program, connect with peers, and watch screenings of their work and those of their fellow Trailblazers. During the festival, they participated in the official selection screening, explored the technology showcase, attended the Best of Fest screening, and celebrated the event's culmination at the Teen Indie Awards. Their films, along with two alum projects, were named official selections:
- "Stage Fright" by Dean G. '26, Horror/Sci-Fi/Fantasy
- "Diminuendo" by Nikhil M. '26, Drama
- "Immortal Stories" by Sahil B. '25, Experimental
- "Ozovehe" by Zahra B. '25, Documentary
Now in his fourth AAHSFF selection and second nomination, Dean G. '26 earned a Best Sound Design nomination for "Stage Fright," recognizing his attention to detail and growing mastery behind the camera. "Every year has brought more inspiration than the last! Having my work screened at AMC is an unforgettable experience, and I am honored to represent the School on a national level. This festival always leaves me inspired to do more with my work," he shared.
From classroom projects to national showcases, Sierra Canyon filmmakers continue to share compelling work that reflects a program focused on creative vision and craft. "Representing Sierra Canyon made it even more special," Nikhil said. "It was Sierra that got me here in the first place—whether working with teachers, collaborating with fellow students, or using school equipment—none of it would have been possible without the School, so it felt great to represent and to know that their support paid off."
The achievements of our student filmmakers reflect the excellence that defines Sierra Canyon's Arts program. With the Everest Family Center for the Arts on the horizon, which will feature dedicated film and photography facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology in both classrooms and shared spaces, the School is poised to elevate that excellence and expand the opportunities that empower Trailblazer creativity.
