On Tuesday, November 25, Sierra Canyon’s Lower Campus hosted its 15th annual Grandparents and Friends Day.

This cherished event brought together more than 500 grandparents and friends, many of whom traveled from across the country and beyond for a morning celebrating the special bond between Trailblazers and their Grands.

The day began with a warm welcome at the Farmhouse and Orange Grove. As guests enjoyed a light breakfast, the Upper Campus Pep Band performed, a new addition that set an upbeat tone for the morning. Students soon joined their grandparents and friends to browse the campus Spirit Store, stop by the photo booth for keepsake pictures, and enjoy the festive atmosphere before heading to classrooms.

Once in classrooms, students introduced their guests to teachers and guided them through special activities. They enjoyed crafts, games, and collaborative projects, filling the spaces with conversation and shared stories.

To close the morning, the community enjoyed a new Performing Arts Showcase, which highlighted student voices and collaboration. The program opened with a Musical Theater presentation of “Who I’d Be” from Shrek the Musical, followed by a welcome from Associate Head of School Stephanie Rubin. Next, the Lower School Choir performed “A Million Dreams” and “You Are Our Heroes,” setting a heartfelt tone that continued as Lifers Dean G. ’26 and Aiden G. ’26 then reflected on their journey at Sierra Canyon. The showcase continued as the Lower School Strings performed “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and concluded with a powerful rendition of the Sierra Canyon Alma Mater by the combined Lower and Upper Campus choirs.

Grandparents and Friends Day offers a meaningful opportunity for students to share their educational journey with the people who have helped shape their lives. This year’s gathering was a joyful reminder of the importance of these relationships and the strong sense of community that defines the Sierra Canyon experience.
