Sierra Canyon School made CIF history on February 28 when both the Boys and Girls Basketball teams captured CIF Southern Section Open Division championships.
The sweep at Toyota Arena in Ontario was the first of its kind in CIF history, a milestone that speaks to the depth and consistency of Sierra Canyon’s athletics program. The School has long been home to nationally competitive programs across multiple sports, and its boys’ and girls’ basketball programs are among the most respected in the country, where student-athletes thrive in a high-performance environment built on accountability and excellence.
The boys opened the evening with a 59–53 victory over Harvard-Westlake, securing the program’s third CIF Southern Section Open Division championship and extending a 22-game winning streak. Later that night, the girls completed the historic sweep with a 69–62 comeback victory over Ontario Christian to claim the program’s second Open Division title. Both teams entered the championship games ranked among the nation’s elite and finished the season with records of 27–1 and 30–2, respectively.
Under the leadership of Head Coaches Andre Chevalier and Alicia Komaki, along with their dedicated coaching staffs, both programs reflect the School's commitment to developing student-athletes who pursue excellence in every arena. In classrooms defined by rigorous academics and on courts where the competition is among the nation’s best, these Trailblazers demonstrate what it means to represent Sierra Canyon with balance. This historic double championship reflects not only their achievement but also the strength of a community that supports and celebrates its students every step of the way.
