Last month, Upper School students electrified audiences with their dynamic production of Chicago, filling the Kardashian Jenner Pavilion for four unforgettable, professional-caliber performances.
Featuring two complete casts, the production offered distinct interpretations of the musical’s Jazz Age world. Lead roles were shared across both casts, with Margaret D. ‘27 and Zoe D. ‘26 as Velma Kelly; Alyssa R. ‘26 and Savanna C. ‘27 as Roxie Hart; Sterling H. ‘27 and Bruce S. ‘26 as Amos Hart; and Nikhil M. ‘26 and Aiden G. ‘26 as Billy Flynn. Across every performance, a full ensemble of student performers worked in sync to bring the story to life, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the same show through different artistic perspectives.
The production showcased the strength of the Sierra Canyon community, brought to life through a coordinated behind-the-scenes effort that supported every moment on stage. From student performers to parents, faculty, and staff, collaboration was evident throughout. The set itself—designed and built in-house by the Sierra Canyon facilities team—added a distinctive layer to the production. Director of Performing Arts Chris Sampson reflected on the run with gratitude, noting that this culture of support continues to elevate student work both in rehearsal and on stage.
Congratulations to the entire Chicago cast and crew on a remarkable run. As the Spring Arts Festival continues, we hope you will join us at upcoming events to experience a program that promotes insightful artistry and inspires students to challenge themselves, explore their creative potential, and engage deeply in the breadth of the arts.
